Join us for a performance with Nite Bjuti at BAMPFA, as a part of their artist residency with the Black Studies Collaboratory housed in the Department of African American Studies at UC Berkeley. Nite Bjuti is Candice Hoyes, Val Jeanty and Mimi Jones, an evocative improvised trio of Afro Caribbean artists using electronics, vocalism, bass, Haitian drum rhythms, sampling and spoken word to cultivate their narrative journey. Their experimental performance will be followed by an interactive conversation with the artists on archives, sonic storytelling, and collaboration.
The event is sponsored by the Black Studies Collaboratory, Department of African American Studies, and the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
